What is STILLS/TRAPS?
Still’s disease is a rare inflammatory disorder characterized by high fevers, salmon-colored rashes, and joint pain. It can affect both children and adults, leading to chronic arthritis and potentially severe complications such as organ inflammation. The cause is unknown, and treatment typically involves medications to control inflammation and manage symptoms.
TRAPS (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Periodic Syndrome) is a rare genetic autoinflammatory disorder marked by recurrent episodes of fever, abdominal pain, muscle aches, and skin rashes. These episodes can last from days to weeks and are often accompanied by inflammation of the eyes and joints. The condition is caused by mutations in the TNFRSF1A gene, and treatment focuses on managing symptoms and reducing inflammation with medications such as corticosteroids and biologics.
